Due to its skills, CE.Si.S.P. is qualified for the management of international projects on the sustainability of products.

Since the nineties, the activities of each partner cover works for public bodies (LCA analysis supporting Integrated Product Policies, development of criteria for ecologic labels, development of criteria for Green Public Procurement, studies about “product innovation”) and private structures (LCA Analysis, Eco-design Projects, Innovative materials studies, Best Available Technologies studies, Environmental Product Declarations development, Product Communication Systems development, Strategic analysis on markets and sustainability). Detailed LCA study projects were even realized for big private industrial companies, generally with the purpose of EPD levels. Thanks to a deep know-how in the field of waste and wastewater treatment, energy and transport, many LCA study projects and some EPD levels were realized for a great number of multiutilities in Liguria and Piemonte.
Other important activities were also implementation of environmental management systems according to ISO 14001 and EMAS as well as educational activities in LCA and eco-design (company seminars and higher education).
Moreover, a new international scheme based on rules to manage LCA and EPD, The Requirements for an International EPD System, has been prepared. According to the ISO/DIS 14025, it describes the general programme rules to implement the EPD system.This document has been preparare within INTEND Project, funded by the European Commission’s LIFE Environment 2003 program, concerning the “Definition of an Environmental Product Declaration system that can be applied at international level and its implementation in two pilot countries (Sweden and Italy).
