CE.Si.S.P. in an interuniversity Centre for the Development of Product Sustainability, coming from the interaction among different specialised abilities, Academic Seats and Advanced Research Centres.The constituent universities are: University of Genoa (Administrative seat), Polytechnic of Turin, Sant'Anna Advanced School of Pisa. CE.Si.S.P. research centre is deeply interdisciplinary and consists of academic professors, academic research fellows and PhD engineers, experts and stakeholders.

CE.Si.S.P. activities start in 2006 through the joint of different specialised abilities of the costituent universities in the field of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), sustainable development and Eco-design with a considerable experience in research, companies support and education programs.

The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering "G.B. Bonino" develops its research activities both on traditional and newest topics of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnologies and Environmental Engineering. The research is funded by a number of national and international agencies, including the MIUR (Ministry of Instruction, University and Research), the European Commission, national and overseas governments, and industry. DICheP supports several PhD and Degree courses in Engineering Faculty, Mathematic, Physic and Chemical Science Faculty and Medicine and Surgery Faculty. Many of the staff represent Italy on national and international specialist committees, such as European Federation of Chemical Engineers working parties.	The Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering (DISMIC) deals with various research subjects which range from the fundamentals of chemistry and materials science to of production and behaviour of engineered materials. Nowadays there is an increasing demand for applications which call for innovative materials, specifically designed and created for solutions which are often unique. The DISMIC’s aims include offering a new approach to the sector. This reflects the principles of “product engineering”: a way of integrating all the skills and knowledge involved in creating the products industry needs with the objective of material optimization for each application. Among different research activities DISMIC study environmental impact and safety issues surrounding materials, processes and plants.	The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa is a public university specializing in the applied sciences: Economic Science, Jurisprudence and Political Science in the Social sciences Department; agrarian Sciences, Medicine, and Industrial and Computer engineering in the Experimental Sciences Department. IN-SAT is a research laboratory of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.It includes professors and researchers in economics, management,engineering and political science.The mission of the IN-SAT Lab is to study and suggest new approaches to innovation and management in private firms, public administrations andregions, with particular attention to sustainability.

• Guarantee of high training, specifically oriented in the sector of products sustainability.

TASKS AND OBJECTIVES

Particularly:

• Promoting and e coordinating research methodological activities and applied to following fields:
  • Environmental Product Declarations (EPD, ISO 14025), LCA and ECO-Design
  • Integrated Product Policies
  • Sustainability Innovation and Marketing
• Promoting activities targeting to forming researchers in this sector
• supporting information and knowledge trade between researchers, also with collaboration with others Institutes and University Departments, with national and international research bodies
• Promoting potential external diffusion of the acknowledgment of the Centre with scientific spreading actions, meetings, workshops, symposiums, schools and collaborations in research and development activities
• Carrying out scientific support and research activities towards Public bodies and/or private structures for sector development
• Promoting diffusion and strengthening in Italy of International System for EPD management, provisionally acting as ACB (Auxiliary Competent Body) with scientific support role.
