STRESS-STRAIN MEASUREMENTS
The mechanical behavior is in agreement with the results of the structural characterization (DSC): the two parameters influencing the mechanical behavior are the Tg of the hard phase and the segregation effect of the PFPE moiety
- The Young modulus is higher than 1000 MPa for all the IPDI coating series, and for the highly crosslinked MC-5-HDI material.
- A tough-plastic behavior with rupture strain values exceeding 20-30% is achieved only when ZDOL 1000 is present and the soft phase is well segregated (TgF < -50°C)
- The absence of a segregated rubbery phase in most of the polymers containing ZDOL 500 (with the exception of BC-10-HDI-5) is confirmed by the formation of brittle films with er < 5%.
