AIM AND SCOPE
Discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of some electrochemical techniques to characterise the pitting susceptibility of SS after heating in air through the analysis of a model material, AISI 304 SS, processed using two processing methods to obtain different sensitisation susceptibilities :
- a conventional method
- a proprietary thermomechanical process [G. Palumbo, Thermomechanical Processing of Metallic Materials, US patent no. 5, 817, 193; 1998] aimed to give improved bulk properties through the concept of "grain boundary design and control”.
