WATER PERMEATION MEASUREMENTS (2)
moisture curing coatings
- highest water absorption, probably due to the lower fluorine content with respect to the two-pack formulations
- prepolymers from ZDOL of molecular weight 500 decreases the water absorption of the moisture curing coatings, the cause of this effect is not completely clear, but might be related to the higher density of crosslinking of these networks
bicomponent polyurethane coatings
- the least water permeation is obtained when the macrodiol of higher molecular weight is used for both the preparation of the prepolymer and the curing, i.e for materials with the highest fluorine content
- a slight increase of the water permeability is obtained when the prepolymers based on ZDOL1000 are crosslinked with ZDOL500
- the use of the low molecular weight diols for both the preparation of the prepolymer and the curing further increases the water permeability of the coatings
These behaviors can be related to the progressive decrease of the fluorine content in the final coatings.
